From Linguistics to...Web Development?

I learned HTML back in the late 90s in high school. My first website was a customized Geocities page dedicated to my favorite fonts. In college, I combined my language skills with web development skills and created Cariblanguage.org, a website devoted to indigenous languages of the Caribbean. Then I decided to focus on Linguistics. When I came back the field of Web Development had changed dramatically.

In graduate school I continued learning linguistics but this time I made sure to focus on technology and computational linguistics. My coursework opened a new world of computer programming. I was exposed to Haskell, Perl, Prolog and Python. I also realized that tech was beginning to appear in all facets of our daily lives. I was intrigued.

In 2016, I decided to dive into tech full-time. I attended a bootcamp called Prime Digital Academy from November 2015 - February 2016. It was intense, and sometimes frustrating, but not only did I learn the MEAN stack, but I also learned that I really love programming. I am happy on my programming journey and continue to learn new languages and skills. I am excited to begin my development career!
